A. Capital search.
Make a word search or a crossword puzzle using the names of the capital cities of India and its neighbours. Give interesting clues that make your friends think and are not too easy. Exchange your puzzle with your neighbour and then put them all up on the display board.

D. Bigger or smaller?

E. Answer the following questions.
1. Name India's neighbours.
= India's neighbours are - Nepal, Pakistan, China, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
2. Which of India's neighbours is landlocked, meaning that it has no access to the sea?
= Nepal and Bhutan.
3. Buddhism links several neighbours to India. Name them and explain what these links are.
= Nepal :- Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini, now in Nepal, but he lived and preached in areas that are now in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
China :- Chinese travellers came regularly to India, the birth place of Buddhism, to learn more about the religion. Two Chinese Buddhist monks, Fa Xian (Fa Hsien) and Xuan Zang (Hiuen Tsang) wrote in detail about their travels.
Bhutan :- Padmasambhava, a Buddhist saint from India (known as Guru Rinpoche in Bhutan) went to Bhutan to spread the teachings of the Buddha. Most people here are Buddhists.
Myanmar :- Emperor Ashoka's children, Mahindra and Sanghamitra, took the teachings of Buddha to Sri Lanka. Many people are Buddhists here.
A tooth relic (ancient remains) of the Buddha is believed to be in the temple at Kandy, which is why this temple is famous.
4. Name the countries that have the rupees as their currency.
= Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
5. Explain how the rule of the British linked some neighbouring countries to India.
= Pakistan :- Pakistan and India were one country when the British ruled India. In 1947, at the end of the British rule, two countries - India and Pakistan - were formed out of the larger India.
Bangladesh :- Bangladesh was also part of the larger India that was ruled by the British along with present-day Pakistan. In 1947, it was created as the eastern wing of Pakistan. In 1971, is separated from Pakistan and became Bangladesh.
Myanmar :- Burma was part of British India and was ruled by the British directly form Calcutta (now Kolkata), which was their capital. The freedom fighter, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, was imprisoned here.
