= Friday became a faithful helper and a true companion to Crusoe. He proved to be a loyal and trustworthy friend.

= Friday requested Crusoe’s gun not to harm him.
3. Why was Crusoe happier now?
= Crusoe taught Friday to speak English, and he learned quickly. At last, Crusoe had someone to talk to, and Friday’s company gave him great joy. Crusoe liked his cheerful nature and valued his help. He also taught Friday how to use a gun and gave him tools like a knife and an axe to carry.

= Friday shouted because three canoes had arrived on their shore.
2. Why was Friday “shaking with fright”?
= Friday was “shaking with fright” because he feared that people from the canoes might capture him and cause him harm.

1. What did Crusoe tell Friday?
= Crusoe reassured Friday not to be afraid. He said that if anyone tried to harm Friday, they would have to face him as well. Crusoe also reminded him that both of them had guns for protection.

= Friday replied that the people from the canoes were many in number, and it might be difficult to fight them all.

= The men were sitting around a fire, preparing food. One prisoner had already been harmed, while the other was tied up on the sand.
3. What were the four men going to do?
= Four men left the circle around the fire and walked towards the tied-up prisoner. They began to untie him, ready to take him away.
